Police State

about

This song was composed by the Artist 30 years ago, when her youngest daughter was 6 months old. This song is based on her experience, and the artists's story can be heard in the song. Tchiya is fortunate to be here alive, as are both of her daughters. Things could have easily escalated into another scenario.

Also included in this song are the experiences of a few Human Beings that were not fortunate, and lost their lives at the hands of police officers, or individuals living with white privilege, who felt justified in murdering innocent people. Black innocent people...

This song was written 30 years ago, and unfortunately, rings even more true today than it did in 1990....I shudder to think where we will be 30 years from now... and I wonder if songs like this will still be relevant....or if we will even be allowed to listen to songs like this in the future... HOTEP.

Oooohhhh ooooohhhh oooohhhh

When I look all around me, I can see
That we all live in conditions,
That we have been conditioned to

Living in a Police State
We’re living in military state
Living n a police state
Living in military state.

Ooohoooh oooh oooh…..

Why do we need their government
Why should they rule when their money’s all been spent
Why do we ask for their institutions?
We should demand Black reparations

Oooooohh. Ooooh. Ooohhh…

(DUB) speaking voice
I was walking down the street by my house one one sunny day
When a patrolling police officer pulled me over
“Let me see your id. Let me see your id”
When I told him that I left it at home, he said
“Refusal to show your id
Is a threat to my authority”

Ooohhhh ooooohhhh ….

When I look all around me, I can see
That we all live in conditions,
That we have been conditioned to

Living in a Police State
We’re living in military state
Living n a police state
Living in military state.

Ohhh ooohhhb ooohhh…

Reggae Music helps to ease the pressure
When you feels and knows it you feel better
Reggae Music is a meditation
Thanks and praises together heals Jah Nation.

Ooohhh ooohhh

(DUB) speaking voice
I was having lunch with my young children one day
When the police busted down my back door
While I was holding my 6 month old baby in my arms,
they put a gun to my head.
At the same time, I could hear them eating my co-op order,
And one of them asked me, “are these blue corn chips?’

Oohhh ooohhh oooh….

When I look all around me, I can see
That we all live in conditions,
That we have been conditioned to

Living in a Police State
We’re living in military state
Living n a police state
Living in military state.

Ohhh ooohhhb ooohhh…

Police State
A Military State
Police Staaaaaate
Military State
Living in a Police State!
